I can highly recommend Abbott Property Care without reservation. They recently completed a Damp Proof Course Injection and Re-plastering to an extensive area of our lower ground floor - the works went smoothly from start to finish. The team - Tony, Sonny and Nathan - were terrific and did everything they could to cause as little stress as possible including managing to keep the internet going so we could continue to work from upstairs. They were punctual, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. The work was carried out to a very high standard with excellent plastering and everything left tidy at the end of each day and a big clean up at the end. David, the boss, came to do a site survey in advance of the works, travelled down again before completion and was on hand whenever I had queries. We received our 20 year guarantee promptly and we couldn't be happier with the work and service we've received.

I have twice employed Abbott Property Care to investigate and treat problems with damp in my house. On both occasions I was very satisfied with the quality of the work and the way David and his team went about it. They were, without exception, professional, considerate, and well organised. Any questions I had were answered promptly and precisely. I am happy to recommend them.

The Abbot team have completed work in my basement flat 3 times in the last 15 years, and each time they are prompt, do great work, fast and very professionally. I can't recommend them enough.

Andrew provided a very thorough damp survey of our property, providing a 19 page report, which contained 17 pages of photos and analysis, finally leading to two pages of various options of quotations. In addition, he went over and above with the amount of council his provided with our home buying journey. Sadly our move fell through but we were going to use Abbott for the damp proofing works too based on the evidence mentioned that they know what they are talking about.

Rude over the phone. Unwilling to help. Acted as if I should know what I'm talking about when general advice was asked. Good luck continuing business with that customer service and approach.

Extremely efficient work. Tony was clean, tidy, well organised. Unfortunately had emergency admission to hospital on the last day he was here - and felt totally confident leaving him to finish and lock up the house. Would totally recommend. Pat Roberts

The firm sent around an employee they use to do a check of our property before commencing the damp work. The employee they sent actually recommended we do not need damp work. The owner refused to refund the full deposit Eventhough their employee recommended we do not carry out the work. The owner is rude and although this was some time ago and won’t make any difference to me, we have had a much nicer experience with another company since and therefore has prompted this review. Avoid!

Would not recommend this company. The firm recommended a course or works for me on the back of a damp survey, when their employee they used to apply damp proof courses came around to my house he told me I did not actually need any work. In essence that the company had suggested for works that did not need to be done. You hear about firms that suggest unnecessary works in order to generate business but you never assume it will happen to you. The employee left my premises having recommended I don’t go ahead with any works, and having completed 0 work. The firm refused to refund me for the work - claiming no responsibility. Essentially cowboy operators. Would avoid .

From a straightforward quotation process to scheduling the work to the work being completed - we were impressed with how professional and easy the process was. Would not hesitate to recommend for damp issues.

I got intouch with David Prince recently for a second opinion on a inconclusive report from another company for dry rot. A proper assessment was suggested by David to determine if indeed it was dry rot, and if so to what extent it had spread. The assessment they did confirmed it was dry rot. The remedial works to eradicate the problem were carried out to a high standard by Sonny and Tony, who were always on time every day and were only too pleased to answer any questions as did David who visited the property a couple of times while the works were ongoing. Hopefully I will not encounter such issues in the future, but if required Abbott Property Care will be the company I contact.

Highly recommend. Did a great job of our damp proofing 13 years ago and then when it recently failed (salts around the chimney) they re-did it no quibbles at all as per their guarantee. Very professional, very polite, good communication and great job all round.

Steer clear! They carried out damp proofing at my property and have the nerve to charge you when you make a claim on their guarantee. Their work and service is substandard. I got external opinions from three independent experts and they all said their treatment had been a total waste of time and money. Read the other negative reviews, go elsewhere!

Abbott Damproofing were a delight to deal with. You always get a human answering the phone which in this day and age is very welcome. Adrian, my Damp Man came on time, was professional, friendly, so neat and tidy while working and his plastering beyond perfection. This will not make any difference to the outcome, I want to make people aware of my experience of dealing with Abbott Damp Proofing and leave you to make your own mind up. Background - I have recently purchased a property which had a damp course injection and re-plastering conducted by Abbott Damp Proofing on September 2018. This work received a 20 year guarantee. Which is what we look for and is a good sales message, lets be honest, how many of us have actually exercised one of these guarantees? Anyway…….. It does state a number of terms when there is a change of ownership on a home, one of which, there is a 28 days period where you have to change names. So here’s the issue, after the damp course, the house was sold to a disabled lady whom owned the home but a board of trustees took care of everything. 12 months later, I bought the house from this lady (from the trustees). So I approached Abbott Damp Proofing to change the name over to myself to be told the last owners had not done so, so the guarantee is invalid. I informed them of the particular challenges with the previous ownership, but I received the following email from them (I have removed the name of the previous owner for privacy). “A guarantee becomes invalid when a property changes hands unless it is re-registered in the new owner's name. It is my understanding that XXXXXXX purchased the property from our client but did not choose to transfer the guarantee which was her/ her legal team's choice. If this is the case and the guarantee has been passed to you knowing it was no longer valid then this might be something your solicitor could take up with XXXXXXX. The only alternative available to us is to carry out an assessment of the property and if we are satisfied there are no issues which are prompting the request for a guarantee transfer in these circumstances, then we would be prepared to transfer the guarantee. If our assessment finds work is required then this work would need to be completed by ourselves at our standard rates before we could transfer the guarantee. The assessment fee would be £350.00 plus vat. The guarantee transfer fee would also apply. We do need to bring this to a close but will keep the options open until 28th April after which the file will be closed.” To Summarise the above and from my perspective, it reads like - you dont like it, take the disabled lady to court OR give Abbott Damp Proofing £420, to assess the work carried out by Abbott Damp Proofing to see if its of sufficient quality. If not then Abbott Damp Proofing will carry out remedial works and charge what we like. Then after that, we will still charge you £144 to guarantee the work Abbott Damp Proofing has conducted with remedial work from Abbott Damp Proofing and we will guarantee the work!! So, sarcastic as this review maybe, it has a real element to it. If the trust was in the work, then any re-assessment would not be needed nor should be a part of any change of name on a guarantee. Legally I am sure they would have this wrapped up and in response to this review, I am sure they will quote a number of ways they have assisted me and how their hands are tied and I am wrong. I am letting all potential customers know, if you want a company that is not just good at sales messages and honours a guarantee without searching for further revenue opportunities, then I have to say, Abbott Damp Courses have proved themselves here to be lacking in that area!! I am sure the reply will be equally damming as this review!!

Quality service from David and the rest of the team. We were asked to provide a damp survey to help finalise a mortgage agreement. After being turned down by several different companies in the area, I was met with an instant reply from David and within the hour he had scheduled a date in which he could attend. Not only was the service fast, with great communication throughout, the mortgage advisor stated that Abbotts report was the best he had ever seen. I cannot recommend Abbott enough, the surveys & services they offer at competitive prices is unmatched by other PCA members in the areas that they operate. Thanks again guys!

Great service from Abbotts. They carried out a damp inspection and completed the report very quickly. The damp proofing and replastering was completed to a high standard by a friendly and approachable professional. They were happy to answer questions and give advice and very tidy.

Damp survey on a property pre-purchase. Listened to the context pre-survey, quick turn-around to not delaying the buying process, and gave initial impressions on our specific concerns the same day (ahead of the full report later that week). I am in the process of selling my house and the buyer's lender requested a Damp & Timber Report was carried out on the property. After being messed about by two separate contractors, my sale was at the point of falling through. I wasn't able to get a Damp & Timber Report completed for at least 6 weeks. I contacted Abbott Damp Proofing and explained my predicament, they managed to squeeze me in within a week and guaranteed the report for two days later. Craig was lovely and very helpful and provided an extremely thorough report. Thank you guys, much appreciated!!

Pictures speak for themselves. Partner and I employed Abbott’s to check our the property for damp prior to us purchasing the property. After moving in we found extensive patches of mould and moisture. Wall paper in the corner of the room was wet to the touch - any thorough search of the property would have detected it. Upon telling Abbott’s of the issues, they have now told us they will not be carrying out any remedial works

I needed an Non-Intrusive Damp and Timber Survey conducted for a potential home buy, Andrew at Abbott Damp Proofing managed to arrange one within a very short timeline which really suited our needs. The estimated turnaround time for the report was very reasonable and they actually managed to get it out sooner than expected which was fantastic. The report itself was very clear, very comprehensive and enabled us to get a clear understanding of the condition to the best of their expertise/restrictions (due to non-intrusive). They also provided pointers as to what we should do next via third parties to further investigate. I will definitely use this company again in the future. Also a point to add, the cost is very competitive compared to the market. I highly recommend using Abbott Damp Proofing.

From start to finish, Abbott’s Damp Proofing Ltd service has been second to none and I would highly recommend them. They completed a thorough damp proof and timber investigation on a property we were about to purchase, which highlighted several issues requiring urgent attention, namely that the previous damp proof course, which was 20 years old had broken down and needed replacing. This was in stark contrast to a damp proof certificate provided by the seller, which had supposedly been completed within the last 5 years by a non-professional and non-PCA registered individual! Say no more…… Needless to say that the costs for this replacement are fairly high and following unwillingness from the seller to negotiate, we pulled out of the purchase. A big thank, as obviously should we have discovered this post-purchase, there is unfortunately no way to sue the seller so the money spent was worth every penny. Both Craig and David displayed outstanding professionalism and spent the time to explain the implications of the results. I am also very grateful for their honest approach, they reported what was wrong and nothing more, which is a rarity these days! We continue our search for a property and will contact them again at the next opportunity.

We have used ADP twice now, once to sort rising damp in 2 areas of our flat, and another to advise with a horrible condensation problem. Both times they have been friendly, professional, and efficient. I would highly recommend them for any damp or condensation issues. Andrew from Abbott Damp Proofing provided a very comprehensive survey report after I found issues with dampness before a purchase of a property. Not only did he identify all damp issues, both immediate and long term, he also helped massively with explainations and even walked me through the property. I would highly recommend using this company pre purchase if damp and/or timber issues have been identified (e.g. in surveyor homebuyer report). Professional, detailed and responsive.

Professional, punctual, efficient and responsive. Abbott undertook a full timber treatment for our new home after first undertaking a survey for us as we were leading up to making the property purchase. At every juncture they were reliable and punctual and the work was carried out efficiently and with a great attention to detail. They even picked up a couple of issues unrelated to the job as they were working and passed these on to us.

Abbotts carried out woodworm treatment for our property. David and Sonny (who carried out the work) were both great - everything was very clear and smooth which is a sigh of relief when you have full renovation works being carried out. No fuss and quick! I would highly recommend.

We were looking at buying a property in Loughborough and on the recommendation of the surveyor asked Abbott Damp Proofing to conduct a damp survey on the property. It was the best £200 ever spent. The damp survey identified rising damp in all walls on the ground floor, penetrating damp in the kitchen and bathroom. Signs of mould in the upstairs bedrooms due to leaks in the roof. Also the floor in the lounge area required replacing and to top it there was beetle activity in the floor of the bedroom and underneath the boiler. The report was very through with photos and the cost to fix the problems identified. The sellers had carefully painted over all signs of damp and kindly put a new carpet in to cover up problem floors. We believe Abbott Damp Proofing helped us dodge a bullet! We were able to withdraw our offer and find a better property. Definitely recommend them!

I was put into contact with Abbott Damp Proofing through the 'MyBuilder' app after receiving some dubious quotes from less trustworthy suppliers. Communications were prompt and professional and within a week of our first correspondence my long standing damp issue was being assessed by a certified surveyor. During and after the survey my options were made clear to me. All members of the team were very knowledgeable and I received a comprehensive, fair quotation backed up by guarantee. All work was undertaken by skilled craftspeople who were punctual and courteous. I took measures to protect my furniture but they went the extra mile to ensure that my carpets and property were well protected. I left Abbott's workforce to complete the work alone whilst I was at the office. They let themselves out when the day was done and posted the key through the letterbox. Entirely trustworthy. Abbott Damp went above and beyond to also repoint some damaged external brick work despite this not being in their original quote, they also offered a £50 discount for prompt payment! I'm pleased to say that my issue appears to have been resolved. This was an easy 5* to give and I would not hesitate to use Abbott Damp for similar work in the future. I have also recommended them to my family. In summary, Abbott Damp are an effective, honest family-run business working in accordance with the British Standard. Their prices are fair and their work is of a high finish. It's encouraging to know that you can still get a job done properly during a time when there are some many rogue operators all vying to take your money. Brilliant.

I had a first class experience from start to finish. They did both a damp and timber survey before I purchased the property, as well as detailed remedial work and substantial renovation of the basement post-purchase (which was as per their initial survey). They were always professional, deeply knowledgeable, honest and transparent about the fees and the costs (including those that I could save / did not need to do) and finished the project on time and on budget. They were also very friendly, patient and approachable whenever I had questions (which was often!). It is refreshing to meet such genuine professionals who have a passion for, and are excellent at, their job. Thanks to David, Andrew and the team for a wonderful job. Would highly recommend.

I had a damp & timber report carried out at the property I'm purchasing and Abbott were absolutely brilliant the entire way through. They were lovely on the phone & I spoke to two different people, and Andrew, the gentleman who did the report was amazing. The report was so thorough and in depth, I was so impressed. He really looked at every part of the property, and you can tell they absolutely know what they are doing. My sister used them a few months before for the property she bought & she was to impressed that she recommended them to me. One of the most trust worth companies I have come across thanks to David and his team for their loyal and amazing work professional from start to finish a great company to have around where you can trust with outstanding results. David knows so much about the science of his trade unbelievable no sales pitch there seriously care about there clients and the work they do for you very hard to find people and especially companies like that... Highly recommended.

We were advised to have a pre-purchase Full Timber and Damp Appraisal Survey undertaken on a property that we purchased in September 2018, following a full structural mortgage survey. We hired Abbott Damp Proofing to undertake this damp survey (costing circa £200.00). The survey flagged up very few issues. Since we moved in, we have noticed quite severe damp staining to the lower part of an internal lounge wall (see images). We got back in touch with Abbott regarding this, who revisited the property to carry out further tests to the brickwork. The surveyor, Andrew, who undertook the original survey, advised me that Abbott would *more than likely* return to eradicate the issue (diagnosed as salt damp) which he personally admitted, he missed during the original survey. The reason it was missed was because a sofa was obstructing the affected wall area. Unfortunately, they consider a sofa to be an item of furniture which cannot be moved during such survey. Overall, Abbott Damp Proofing have been difficult to communicate with. I have been mislead throughout the difficulties (false hope that they would put the problem right) and David has been unhelpful and disinterested in resolving the issues amicably. This review is to make other people AWARE that when paying extra for a FULL Timber and Damp Survey, things can very easily be missed and you may be left with a property you could have either avoided or requested for works to be undertaken before exchange of contracts.

We've had very mixed and generally stressful experiences with so called damp specialists (Kenwood being one) we've found it to be a very subjective world but working with David and his company has been an absolute breath of fresh air, we couldn't rate both the service and level of experience highly enough - vigorous, honest, trustworthy, friendly, we can say with confidence they would do a great job in any damp situation.
