Mr. Porter came out to do an inspection of my drains as I was having issues. He was very thorough with the inspection finding various issues that needed to be dealt with. He advised me to try and get an insurance claim, but said he would be very happy to complete the job if they were not forthcoming. All in all very helpful offering advice and a nice manner. Definitely recommend him. Gave me an off the cuff quote which I felt was reasonable for the amount of work that would be required

Recently had a major flood of the bathroom caused by a significant limescale buildup in the wastewater piping. Alan attended the problem within an hour of callout, immediately understood the problem and cleared the limescale blockage very quickly and methodically with jetting. We had issues with blocked sink for a while, had a company in who done work under the sink, 2weeks later blocked again. Contacted Alan, what an amazing man, polite very knowledgeable jetted my drain outside couldn't believe how much food waste and fat came out, put camera up pipe to show me how clean they are now. I would definitely recommend 1st Porter Call. I had a severely blocked drain with significant amounts of limescale restricting the flow. The problem was resolved efficiently and promptly. The causes of the issue were explained with the assistance of clear cctv. All mess was cleared up.

Had a blockage in my on-suite meaning the waste water in the sink had nowhere to go excent coming out of my on-suite shower plughole which my plumber could not unblock with his kit of acid and a plunger. Spoke to Alan from 1st Porter Call, who made me clear of the possible costs. Carried out a drain survey for a house purchase and accurately plotted the public sewer to the rear and revealed a problem with the private drainage on the neighbouring property. Thorough investigation carried out and worth having the survey for the footage and report.

Quite possibly the best Plumber & Drainage expert we have met! Intermittent issues with drainage and a backing up gents loo was the reason for the call. Alan promptly attended the following day and within 5 hours we had a fully inspected and cleaned drainage system from inside out, which had scale build up, a repaired urinal feed, new piping, and a new trap and tap fitted to our kitchen unit. A complete MOT and sound peace of mind. Alan and his college were very knowledgeable and took time to show us what was going on using the CCTV equipment and explained why things are occurring and how to reduce the effects in future. Alan came promptly to unblock our sewer, removing a large quantity of tree roots. Using his camera he detected a further partial blockage in the pipe on our neighbour’s property and he arranged with Southern Water for them to come and clear that blockage free of charge. Alan spent a good 2-3 hours sorting out our extremely blocked mains drain. Investigated all 4 (!) drain manholes on the property and pressure cleared blockage as well as establishing that flow had been restored. Also recommended future investigative work. Was professional, tidied up and billed as expected. Additionally responded VERY quickly to my initial query.

Alan responded promptly to a request to clear a blocked WC. It turned out to be due to a large build up of limescale in both the pan and soil pipe. Pressure jetting and camera inspection dealt with the soil pipe but removal of the WC itself was necessary to remove the inches-thick limescale within the u-bend. The entire job was completed without fuss. I would thoroughly recommend Alan and his colleague Paul if you ever have need of their services.

Alan recently cleared our blocked drain from our kitchen sink using a high pressure hose through the outside drain. He was very professional and polite, explaining exactly what he was going to do before proceeding. We were also made aware of costs prior to his arrival, a great plus point. Called 1st Porter Call mid-afternoon about our blocked drain and Alan attended the very next morning. His vehicle and trailer were spotless and well organised. We have had a problem with rodents at our property and I was recommended to use Alan by the pest controller. Alan responded quickly and used CCTV to locate the problem discovering a unknown manhole and other disused pipes. He was able to block the pipes which involved also digging a hole! While our blocked drain was inconvenient it wasn't an emergency, but Alan came within just a few hours of me contacting him. He was thorough and explained everything he was doing which included jetting the drain to clear the blockage and using cctv to check the condition of the drain. This is the third time that I have used/recommended Alan and 1st Porter Call. He is always punctual, polite and happy to explain what is needed and provide advice to prevent recurrence. This was a tricky job at our local church involving lifting a rusted shut manhole cover and then clearing many years of scale and urea crystals. Alan did this quickly and cleanly leaving the drains clean and flowing better than they had for years. He then just charged for the time spent -m no call out fee even though he came at 8am on a Saturday morning. I wouldn't use anyone else for plumbing and drainage issues.

After trying all the basic tricks to remove a blockage in our toilet drainage system with no luck, we took to Google to seek professional assistance. 1st Porter Call headed the list and from the initial phone call with Alan, we knew we would be in safe hands. Alan demonstrated a wealth of knowledge and diagnosed the problem over the phone and explained the action plan very clearly. From this we arranged an appointment for the following morning. Excellent work by Paul and Alan to clear and survey our surface water drainage, removing roots and resolving problems as well as identifying improvements. 'What a lovely man' were Mothers first words to me when I called her after Alan had notified me he had unblocked the the drains! Bit of a tricky job to complete due to the building layout and took a little longer than he had anticipated but an excellent result. As I don't live in the area, I wanted someone one who was good with dealing with the oldies as parents are well into their 80's and deaf so that was a challenge in itself. I called Alan at 10am on Monday, he answered the phone direct and answered any questions regarding the blocked drains. Within 2 hours he was onsite with his full rig ready to go to work. Alan was very thorough and methodical and explained the potential cause and suggested any preventative maintenance. I had previously had Dynarod out a few weeks previous for the same fault. Dynarod cleared the blockage and left with 10-15mins, Alan spent 2.5 hours jetting and descaling each drain onsite to ensure the fault didn’t return. Alan is local to our site and it was great to have a genuine hard working tradesman to call on. Someone I will certainly use again in the future.

He brought along his professional equipment/kit to investigate and unblock the drains, including his vast experience, knowledge and skills on what the issue could be, and the common design and problems with similar drains of a typical 1900 house (professional). We were recommended to use this company. Having Cancer, Alan & Paul dropped everything and came to our rescue. The en suite toilet had become blocked over 20+ years of use and was very narrow through limescale build up (see photos). Alan explained that he had never seen a toilet so bad with the build up accumulation. This required a lot of work, 6 hours in total, firstly by camera use, then another colleague Paul came to be at the toilet end whilst jet wash and cleaning took some hours to remove all the limescale through the drain outside. A very professional job and I would recommend them. The toilet is working well and we are well pleased with the outcome. The photos tell the story!!

We had an external leak (it was bad) from our water supply that Southern Water were unable to fix, Alan and his team provided a professional resolution including all communications with the water supplier and fixed the issue. I have used this company before which suggests I like the service provided. I called in with an emergency situation on Saturday evening. He was prepared to come out immediately but I suggested it could wait until the next morning, as it was a very wet day. He arrived promptly on Sunday morning, analysed the cause of the problem, and everything was sorted by early afternoon, and a very reasonable price. Alan was recommended by a pest controller as there was evidence of rats damaging a man hole and accessing my property. 1st Porter call we’re available within a couple of hours and gave me a price on the phone. Once he arrived, he got straight to work with the inspection and found out the rats access point into my property and also gave me guidance and a quote on repair. With regards to the man hole, Alan told me that it belonged to southern water and called them to arrange a repair from them. Great service, thoroughly recommended.

I had a problem with an outside surface water drain linked to the road surface water drain. After contacting the Highway agency and southern water several times plus numerous visits to identify the problem, nobody was taking ownership. I had 1st Porter plumbing investigate the problem and within a short period of time the issue was highlighted as a southern water responsibility. Alan made calls direct to Southern water and got the ball rolling to resolve the issue. Southern water finally took ownership of the drain and the cleared roots. Excellent service provided by Alan Porter at the weekend regarding a blocked drain at my property. Correctly identified that it was something affecting several properties (which my neighbours confirmed immediately), that is needed unblocking at a remote site and that it was Southern Water's responsibility. He even called them on our behalf and gave them all the details including his contact in case they needed further information. Will definitely use him again and will be recommending to others.

I contacted Alan to investigate a possible leak coming from a cold water tank in the loft. Alan attended very promptly and spent a good deal of time inspecting all of the plumbing connections as well as the general condition of the chimney. The job was to locate and to assess a septic tank in a very large overgrown garden. The search was carried out using a CCTV camera. System, including septic tank, was then cleaned and drained using water jet-stream equipment and a vacuum tanker. A long job requiring expert knowledge and equipment. Drains were blocked due to some dodgy plumbing done previously by someone else. Luckily, Alan managed to identify the issue (which was other pipes protruding into the main pipe thus causing the blockage) promptly and solved this problem by cutting the protruding pipes back so that the main pipe was fully open for sewage to flow. I needed to find someone with the expertise required to check the condition of an external drain, give a professional opinion on a redundant water access point and comment on some mildew behind a stopcock. Alan's knowledge an expertise rescued my flat from a block that had built up over decades from previous occupants. I had the sink, dishwasher and washing machine all using this pipe and it fully blocked all the way along, about 10 meters. He explained what he was going to do and understood the issues quite quickly from investigating. His specialist equipment got into concealed areas as most of the pipe was behind plasterboard walls. He finished the job with the water draining very well as if new. Im a very satisfied customer.
