Customers appreciate the spacious, clean store layout and its extensive stock of cosmetics, healthcare products, and hard-to-find medicines. However, multiple reviewers report difficulties reaching the store by phone, long wait times for prescriptions, and discrepancies between shelf labels and checkout prices. While some staff receive praise for expert advice and fast online delivery, others are criticised for aggressive sales tactics or unhelpful service.
I visited the store today in search of compression stockings. The store manager offered great advice and was very helpful. Thank you!
An awesome place with decent products and people to help you navigate in the store. A very nice shopping experience👍👍👍
Ordered Weleda Arnica spray for my Father in law and my mother (for both had hip replacements and its supposed to be a wonder spray) from the John Bell & Croydon online store at lunchtime yesterday . The items arrived this morning to Northern Ireland, less than 24 hours later. Cannot believe the speed of service!! Good price too. Very impressed
It’s really more than a pharmacy, they have a lot of brands of beauty and self care products and equipment. It is spacious and staff were very nice and helpful.
My husband usually waited outside with the dog . But he was welcome to wait inside. I come here for my osteopath, and regular shooper. Now , I believe due to her desire to serve some population that dont like dogs. They asked my husband to wait outside and kick out another person with a dog. Shame on you! Bad service not coming again!
Please can you ask your staff members not to touch the hair of customers children. We were in there yesterday and one of the ladies touched her hair when saying hello. It may be acceptable in some cultures where people like to touch but not in 2026. Waving is fine, nothing else.
John Bell & Croyden delivers an exceptional experience that truly lives up to its prestigious reputation. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels refined yet welcoming, with beautifully arranged displays that make browsing a pleasure rather than a task. The range of products is outstanding—carefully curated, high-quality, and often difficult to find elsewhere. What really sets this place apart is the level of service. The staff are not only knowledgeable but genuinely attentive, offering thoughtful recommendations without ever feeling pushy. Whether you're looking for wellness essentials, luxury skincare, or expert advice, they go above and beyond to ensure you leave satisfied.
I flew in from the States and managed to forget two medications, including one that helps me breathe… great start to the trip. This was the closest pharmacy, and they let me know I’d need a prescription from a local doctor. To their credit, when I pressed for options, they pointed me to Same Day Doctor just a couple of blocks away. That ended up being a lifesaver. After getting the prescription, I came back and was told the key medication might not arrive until the next day. I checked two other pharmacies, and both said it definitely wouldn’t be available until Monday… which didn’t help since I was leaving Sunday. I decided to take a chance and stick with them, and somehow, the medication came in that same day. Absolute relief. Huge credit to the team for pointing me in the right direction and coming through when it mattered. And yes, the entire time I kept thinking of Every Breath You Take… which felt a little too on the nose
Really friendly and helpful pharmacists. Thorough and highly recommended. It’s close to OneWelbeck so if the OneWelbeck pharmacy doesn’t have something here usually does. The shop is also beautiful.
Went to John Bell & Croyden earlier today, what a breath of fresh air, they had the item I wanted in stock, a member of staff was happy to take me to the item, as always great customer service, you get the feeling they really care about their customers. The shop was immaculate, clean well stocked, bright and great good old fashioned service, no pressure, calm and comfortable surroundings.. as always great shopping experience. Please don't change a thing. Would award 6 stars if I was allowed. 😀
5 stars for space and range of products. But I bought an INDI mixer (electric frother) that never worked properly. It works for 2-5 seconds and then stops immediately, even when it’s fully charged. I also noticed some of their non-tester products are open.
I had wonderful service at John Bell and Croyden from a lovely lady Rubina and I think she is one of the managers. She was incredibly polite, and helpful. I normally feel a bit hounded by skincare consultants in there, but she was completely different. She asked all the right questions rather than pushing a brand. Real skincare expertise. Her approach made my visit so much more enjoyable. A real credit to the store
Unfortunately this is one of the only places that carry my favourite toiletries, I have truly never met such appalling staff in my life.
Unacceptable Service and False Advertising My approx 1pm visit today was appalling. It was nearly impossible to find staff willing to help; the lack of visible name badges made identifying who actually worked there when walking the shop floor extremely difficult. I eventually had to interrupt a conversation between two employees, one of whom was Manager ‘Maria S’, who seemed more interested in chatting than assisting customers. The main issue occurred at checkout with the other lady who had been chatting with Maria (who did not wear a name badge). She tried to overcharge me. When I alerted her to the correct shelf price, she was completely unsurprised and flatly refused to verify the price or call a manager, insisting I find Maria myself. She was rude and unhelpful, and eventually told me to move so she could serve others. When I asked her name, she refused, claiming I was 'picking on her.' Frankly, the cashier is clearly not equipped to handle customer issues or engage in basic problem-solving. I finally tracked down Maria after waiting for her to finish with another customer. When she processed the correction, she was shockingly unconcerned, stating that pricing errors 'always happen' because 'the stickers are wrong' due to brands not informing the store of price changes. The store's acceptance of this blatant false advertising is completely unacceptable. After years of shopping here, I will not return.
I use this pharmacy regularly - my medication is always in stock compared to other places, and the majority of pharmacy/prescription area staff are so kind. Staff in the left hand side of the store (vitamin, mobility aid, etc) are also super friendly and helpful, especially the young ladies in the vitamin area! HOWEVER on the right hand side of the store is a whole other story. I go in looking for one item, and i have members of staff hound me to buy £800+ of products, I assume from the brands they are ambassadors for. It's incredibly intimidating when you know what you want and from which brand, and staff are relentlessly telling you that your skin needs way more, its actually insulting. I then have had another lady be incredibly rude to me, after I apologised for not buying anything she'd hounded me with, she said "its fine we arent busy today, but dont do this on a busy day"... she was the one that wouldnt leave me alone to buy my moisturiser! Very clearly the staff target anyone wearing a nice bag, expensive clothing etc as I see this happen to others. The majority of us just want to shop in peace - we will ask for help if we need it, but after saying "its okay I'll try something else" I dont expect to be followed around the department being told I need £500 face cream. Awful shame that the right hand side of the store ruins the general experience. Glad theres a door that avoids the area completely. PLEASE teach your staff some manners.
Really beautiful and had a great range of products but the sales associates are incredibly aggressive. In less than five minutes of being in the store, we were approached by four different people who all pushed hard and did not pick up the “ok thank you we will let you know if we need anything” it was really overwhelming and unpleasant because we had to feign politeness. I work retail, good salespeople know when to leave the customers alone. I say this in the spirit of improvement and feedback. All the people were polite and friendly, but way too pushy and we regretted going in.
Good place to buy medicine & cosmetics. Only giving low rating as they don't have consistent customer service level. Some staff members are good have a nice attitude and very helpful. Some are cold like the Siberian winters and see you as a burden that is using up their precious resources and time!!!!
They don’t answer the phone. This is my regular pharmacy and I try and call them every other day, in the morning and afternoon and the line just says “the person that you have called is unavailable”. What’s the point of having a number on the page if no one is there to pick up the phone
I have been trying to access the pharmacy in order to establish what hours the pharmacists are available to fulfill a prescription. It is very possible the WORST WEBSITE I have ever encountered and it proved impossible to speak to anyone with my query and I wasted alot of time trying. Reallly dissasppointing for a recognised brand name establishment. Dont bother go elsewhere to a firm that cares!!!!
I tried all 6 options - no one is available yesterday morning, afternoon and later the day for 2 days. It is clear to me that these phones no longer in service and yet still being advertised. It happened last year too. Thought it was a one off but appeared not. My neighbours had the same problem and recommended another pharmacy much nearer to us in Marylebone.
Poor shopping experience. The supplement section has many wrongly priced items. You only find out the correct price once you go to the till. Customer service don’t seem bothered about these mistakes just shrugged their shoulders. This product is labelled for £19 pounds but was told it’s £45 when I went to pay at the till.
Reason for my 1* rating is that when I attended this store's Pharmacy this evening, I had a question for the store's Pharmacist. I asked the cashier to speak to the Pharmacist. But after speaking to the Pharmacist, the cashier communicated back to me that the Pharmacist was 'too busy' dealing with other prescriptions. I said I wouldn't mind waiting until she was free. But still she refused to see me, even if I waited. First time in my life I've had a Pharmacist tell me they're 'too busy' to speak with their patient.
I've spent days trying to ring them to ask if they can get my prescription, trying at different times of day every time. The website says to ring if you have any questions. It rings and rings and then someone hangs up on the call, every time.
Every time I leave this shop I question why I give them my business. The staff ignore you, despite the store being near-empty and overstaffed. Today I was in a queue where 2 members of staff were extremely friendly and chatty to an elderly couple in front of me, but ignored me as I got to the till and said “hello” to them both. They then proceeded to ignore me as they scanned my products. This is a common theme, and a mistake I won’t make again. A pity as the store is beautiful and has excellent and extensive selection of brands. Next time I’ll go to The French Pharmacy or Space NK, where they actually value custom and have manners. A note to the management - you have no reason to be complacent in your customer service - on a beautiful sunny Friday morning you only had about 5 customers in the entire store!
I'm extremely disappointed with my today’s experience at John Bell and Croyden pharmacy in London. As a loyal customer who shops there weekly, I was shocked by the poor service I received. The pharmacy advertised discounts, but when I went to pay, I was charged the full price. When I brought this to the shop assistant's attention, they insisted the price was already discounted, which clearly wasn't the case. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak to the manager, I was left waiting for 30 minutes. After all that time, they told me the issue would be dealt with over the phone instead of addressing it on the spot. This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a long-time customer. I expected better from such a reputable establishment.
I always come in this store last 2 years but just one problematic person is rude in the store and her name is Kathy. If the price of the shelf is different from the system, she behaves too rude. One times I recognized the price is different I’m my receipt and came back the following say and she said why you didn’t check your receipt when you paid it. Even if they don’t update the shelf price, they blame you. Also, my last experience is similar, the super coat price and nail colour stuff prices are 16 and 19 in the shelf and o checked the barcode on the shelf and didn’t see one of the product. I asked the same person because she manage the same place. She said 16 and ı went to the cashier and she was next to the cashier and when they scanned it, theynsaid 20. I just let them know she said 16 and the shelf doesn’t show 20 pound products. She became mad and angry and said you always made a problem about price. She held the product and came with a guy and he was also rude and behaved ridiculously. When ı left from the store, she said why you came in this store. I reported her to her manager again on the phone. They are rude and forgot to change the price or didn’t add it and behaves weird. Other people are nice especially önemli the Russian and Scottish lady. However, she is extremely unpolite and disrespectful and reason is another funny thing. They don’t have an accuse. Hope the place came back their previous kind days.
Worst customer service I ordered 4 Aromatherapy products on the 27th of November -10 days ago ! I was first told on the 1st of December-4 days after the purchase that one of the products was missing so I would be refunded for that 1! there was no refund , not even on the email relating of this! I had to write back yesterday - 9 days after purchase- to check when the 3 products which were available would be delivered ! I was told that in fact nothing was available. If I didn't write I wonder if they would inform me Somehow They do sell it again online but at a higher price! Very unimpressive customer service. No apology, no offer to send at a later date, at the same price! Nothing! Not impressed
I find filing prescriptions here to be a very stressful experience so I have recently started to go elsewhere. Very busy, no clear communication from pharmacy staff which can lead to you sitting waiting for an unreasonable amount of time, constantly checking if your medication is ready. Also regularly lots of irritated customers also there doing the same thing which really doesn’t leave a nice atmosphere. Not sure what’s going on or why the pharmacy find it difficult to issue the prescriptions in a timely and communicative manner but I have found going elsewhere to be the answer to avoiding this.
First time shopping here in years and I will not be going back. Amazing looking pharmacy and seems to have a great range of products but the staff I came across have zero manners and service skills. The older woman in the counter did not greet or even look at me as I came up as she was too busy gossiping with her colleague. Having myself worked in service related jobs for 30 years this is just not good enough. Time to update some staff I would suggest.
The staff got the time to gossip with each other but no time to serve customers, especially in any way that would be a timely manner. I’ve been waiting for over 1.5 hours to get incomplete prescriptions while staff lied straight to my face and previously over the phone that my prescription was complete and ready to collect. I've heard all of the possible excuses why their system is so slow today and why the medications are not ready while waiting, but the most disturbing was that the responsible pharmacist dared to lie to my face too. They had time to approach for a chit-chat instead of packing the meds. Shocking how unprofessional the pharmacy services could be. While I was waiting for my meds I also noticed that there were many items on the shelves that were not labeled with prices which is obviously against the legislation. Avoid if you can!
Very big, clean and tidy shop but customer service is terrible. Nobody helps you despite having lots of people behind the counter. When you approach them after you cannot find the product for a while they are even worse. They don’t offer any help, they dont know if they have the product they ask you to go yourself to have a look at the shelves.
The worst customer service! I placed an order, after a week I called the store as haven't heard anything from them.It was around 4:30pm, lady after long await time picked up the phone and said their customer service team finishes at 5 pm so she will not asked them about my order now because its too late...was it really? ( I will leave this for senior management to sort out). Lady over the phone said she will check and give me a ring back the next day. Never heard from her again! I tried to call them but every single time my call was transferred, you could hear the answer and hang up straight away. So it took me an hour of constant calls to get through. When finally pharmacy member of staff picked up the phone, we exchanged two words and she hung up. Nice one! So I tried again a few times and gentleman picked up the phone, very surprised when I told him my story and transferred me to another member of staff who finally has had a conversation about my order. Do you know what I was told when I asked why my order was completely disregarded? That the person who was dealing with orders had not have a login to the system and then I was told also that the person left. Do I really need to know this as a customer? Staff shortage is not my concern. I really understand busy time but ignoring customer, not even trying to contact them to let them know the order will arrive delayed or not at all is completely out of order. On another note my refund was processed straight away, so who knows if the product was in stock at all. 10 days of hassle for nothing.
John Bell & Croyden is a long established pharmacy in the middle of Wigmore Street in Marylebone London. It is an extremely large store beautifully laid out with immaculate displays of high end cosmetics, organic remedies and conventional items.
