Many customers report missed or unannounced appointments, unresolved water leaks, and poor communication from call handlers and management. Some reviewers also detail severe issues such as extended periods without heating or water, long-standing roof leaks, and unnotified emergency property access. However, a small number of customers highlight positive experiences, citing polite repair workers, effective out-of-hours support, and recent improvements in repair work.
They sent a bloke down to fix my wall. He came with a bad attitude and slick talk that was so unprovoked as if deliberately in-hindsight asking for a fight. We kicked him out as quickly as he came in as that behaviour shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone let alone a 20 something your old bloke who probably smoked his eyes out before knocking on my door. Embarrassing
joke of a company
Never seen a useless company like this one before. Nothing ever gets done, the contractors show up whenever they like and never confirm the appointment with you. Company needs to be shut down
“I’m very disappointed with the management. They have rescheduled my appointment three times already, which is very frustrating and unprofessional.”
Customer services and repair work have significantly improved. Keep up the great work.
If I could leave 0 starts I would. I got home around 2 am to find that the keyhole to my door had been drilled into by MEARS, leaving me without access to my property. Naturally, I was alarmed and assumed that someone had broken into my home. In response, I immediately contacted the police to report a potential break-in, and I also called a locksmith to gain entry. While waiting for both the police and the locksmith, I experienced immense stress, as I was unsure if someone was inside my property or if my belongings had been stolen. However, once the locksmith was able to open the door, it became clear that the issue was not a break-in, but rather a water leak. The leak, as MEARS claimed in the note left inside of my house that I had no access to, was said to be originating from my flat, but it was actually coming from the flat above me. Worse yet, there was no prior attempt to contact me about the situation, nor was there any notice left explaining the purpose of the drilling. Instead, a note was left inside my door, causing unnecessary panic and confusion for 2 hours. In addition to the distress and confusion caused by this incident, I had to pay £200 for the locksmith services just to gain access to my own home at 3 am. I am truly concerned about the lack of communication regarding this situation. Why was I not contacted in advance before drilling into my door? Why wasn’t there a clear note on my door explaining the situation to avoid me assuming it was a break-in? I feel that this oversight demonstrates a lack of regard for the personal circumstances of those affected by such actions.
Absolute cowboys !
SHUT THIS BUSINESS DOWN!!!!! ZERO STARS!!!! CARRIED OUT MAINTENANCE WORK ON A FLAT IN A COUNCIL BLOCK AND TURNED THE WATER OFF FOR THE WHOLE BLOCK. WE HAVE NOT HAD CONSUMABLE WATER FOR 4 DAYS NOW. NO CONTACT, NO REIMBURSEMENT, NOT A SINGLE WORD!
Had a leak in my roof last year which was 'fixed' by Mears. This year my roof started leaking in the exact same place, and dripping water into my bedroom, after countless emails pleading with them which mainly went ignored, they finally arrived 5 months later. I imagine a serious amount of water damage has occurred in that time.
This company is full of cowboy builders. They have been trying to fix a flat roof leak for over 1 year now but can't get the job done. Also pay the council nearly £3000 in service charges. Don't know how this company keeps winning Tower Hamlets contracts.
So upset with having to rely on this terrible company since I moved here in October. At the very least ten times so far have been penned in all day waiting for a repair to be carried out and they hardly ever show up, never any contact to say why. Having had a bad luck streak of back to back repairs it has taken it’s toll on my mental health of which I suffer so bad having to spend so many days inside alone waiting not sure if the repair men will show up. It’s always the same old ‘oh no sorry about that, we can get them to you tomorrow from 12-5’ rinse and repeat another isolated day of nothingness, especially when they don’t bother to turn up again. Currently I’m being left for two weeks with no hot water, shower or heating. I thought at least I’d be able to shower again but no, this is the final straw and I’m going to take things higher as something is seriously wrong with the running of this company. Previously I was under a housing association, which gets a bad rep for not honoring repairs, but I have to say they were a dream compared to this council enlisted NIGHTMARE. Several times the operators have been rude, reporting on the website is useless as they will confirm the job, not show up and then claim that enough info wasn’t supplied on the website form, and when proven wrong didn’t even apologize. Also the website form doesn’t contain a full list of repairs to report. In my experience though all of the repair men themselves have been excellent and skilled at what they do, it’s the company itself and some of the operators. 5 stars should go to them! I have no idea how people that work and live alone or the elderly cope with them.
Don’t respond quickly. There’s always an excuse as to why they can’t send someone soon. Rude tone from call line and not responsive.
Trust me when I tell you that 1 star is faaaar above what these guys deserve. The only way they have a job and can keep that level of service is by being untouchable through council's agreement. This is a shame for the council, and for all these people who don't care about the work they do, the people they deal with, nor any type of professional ethic whatsoever. Unfortunately I don't have a choice, as a leaseholder, but to "work" with them. If you do, by all means stay away from them as far away as you humanly can.
The call centre staff are so rude and unprofessional
I requested an emergency repair January 2018 and Mears have still not completed it and what should have been a 5 min repair has turned into for me a extremely large bill. They keep sending wrong contractors and without making appointments and this is just one of several issues of work they have never attended to so I now have disrepair. So unprofessional and yes I agreed it is unbelievable that they have had their contract renewed.
Useless at repairs and works. No idea how they win contracts.. never finish a job to good standard. Always cutting corners and contractors never use their brain. No goodwill and no respect for people's homes and to leave a job done to the right and final finish
So, I don't know what office I deal with when I call mears out of hours through Richmond housing partnership but the people I've dealt with over the past month have been nothing but really nice, kind and helpful to my family and I. They have dealt with my issues when needed and listened to me and the problem that needs addressing and been great at sorting out issues. Richmond housing partnership during the day when I've called have been nothing but useless and lied on occasions and not bothered doing their job correctly. They really do not care about people that are vulnerable or have disabilities and I'm quite disgusted at some of the workers. I have had a couple of nice rhp officers listen whereas two days ago I dealt with the rudest man who completely messed the job up by telling me nobody was attending when in fact someone was attending but I had left home so he lied and my issue wasn't dealt with. Mears out of hours are brilliant though and I highly rate them so thank you.
Dreadful, contractors do not turn up,really horrible experience with them all the time.
Useless. Not for purpose. Repeatedly don't honor their appointments. Even when escalated to a complaint, they don't bother reading notes, emails, and mix up cases. Huge waste of time and energy. Unfortunately, as a THH leaseholder i have no choice but to persist - cause private plumbers won't touch the leak because it relates to the freeholder. Would rate 0 star if was possible.
Left my mother of 88, not long out of hospital, without heating and hot water for 24hours. And many peoe in Tower Hamlets have been let down by them
Excellent. Nice staff member and did a great job
