I’m disappointed with my experience. After doing some research and reading the excellent reviews, I contacted Michael on Monday who came across as professional and was pleasant on the phone. I explained that the job would involve some investigative work — tracing extractor ducting to confirm whether it vents externally or into the ceiling void — and that I would likely need two extractors replaced. It was an urgent job. I initially asked whether he could attend on Wednesday at 2pm. He said he couldn’t commit to that time in case other urgent jobs came up. I then suggested 11am, but was told it would need to be in the morning. As I was travelling to the property from outside London, I explained that I needed more time to get there and couldn't do an early appointment. He suggested I send an email with the details so he could check his diary and get back to me. I sent the email immediately and confirmed to him that it had been sent. Unfortunately, I never received a response. It’s frustrating to lose two days waiting for a reply. If the job wasn’t to his liking, I would have appreciated a straightforward answer. Clear communication and follow-up are important, especially when customers are arranging travel and taking time out of their schedules.

Alex has been polite, punctual and did a great job on the issue (electrical fuse spars supplying the hot water cylinder). The pricing was clear beforehand and the office was very prompt with communications. Would highly recommend to anyone else requiring similar services.

While searching London for an electrician I stumbled across Woods Electrical, and I'm glad I did. After been told by a previous company which panel lights to order I needed them install, called Woods Electrical and they came to me very quickly to have a look at thr job. Michael came to the job personally and was friendly and professional. Unfortunately he informed me that the lights advice by previous person wouldn't be suitable for the space due to the voltage reasons, but without accepting that and walking away he recommended the correct light fittings and where to purchase them. The correct lights arrived and Woods Electrical sent Alek, he got to work straight away and made every job look easy and quick. He fitted numerous light fittings, replaced numerous plug faces and even installed few extra power points around my building. I was happy to let him get on with his work safely and left him to do what he needed to do in the time he was there, returning to the job it was clean and tidy with all new fittings completed to the highest spec. He went out of his way to come to our home to fix several electrical sockets that weren't working, despite our address being further than his usual area. An issue involving one of our cats meant I had to spend most of the time Michael was there out on our terrace, but he was really understanding and fixed everything in under an hour. Top communication and a top job (EICR test) done swiftly and professionally.

I needed an inspection and EICR and was very wary of being taken advantage of. Additionally, living in a small Central London flat rewired 35 years ago, I was fairly certain that remedial work would be necessary. Given Covid-19, I had been alone in my flat for 15 months, making an impending visit even scarier. A friend and neighbour had used Michael Wood Electrical Limited, especially praising electrician Simon Clarke and the honesty of the firm. After initial issues getting in contact via the web site, I was able to arrange an inspection. As I feared, I needed a new consumer unit to replace my very old fuse box, etc. We were able to arrange this for 4 days after the inspection. Simon Clarke was the very able and personable electrician for both visits. He brought a powerbank, which allowed me to use my superhub for ethernet and WiFi while he worked with all electricity turned off. Luckily, I did not need the rewiring I feared. Within a week, and for a very reasonable sum, all of the work has been done. I have the original and updated certificate, and am very relieved and feel so much safer. The only minor negative is that communication and information regarding timings could be better. I think this is because they are so busy. I also had a sense that the company is more accustomed to dealing with commercial rather than domestic clients. I had no idea how to pay 50% of the final invoice, for example, not being used to doing so via Bacs. I have put so much detail because overall, this has been an unexpectedly positive experience. It can be so hard to find honest traders, that it is important to let people know when you have found one.
