I paid JD Electrical £500 for an Electrical Installation Condition Report, but despite repeated promises, I did not receive the report or even the requested written summary of the identified problems. Before the appointment, I was quoted £250. When the electrician attended on 8 September, I was told that there were two fuse boards and that the price would therefore double to £500. I agreed and paid the full amount immediately. He advised that the installation had failed and verbally identified several concerns. The report was supposed to follow within a few days. On 12 September, I was told it would be completed on Monday. On 14 September, I was then promised it by the following afternoon. On 15 September, I was told it was being completed “as we speak.” On 16 September, I was told that an app problem prevented the report from being shared. I asked for either a handwritten report or simply a written list of the defects, and he promised to send the list within approximately one hour. Nothing was provided. After I chased again, he admitted on 21 September that he had completely forgotten and said the app had been undergoing maintenance. He again promised the certificates that evening, but they were not sent. Throughout my dealings with him, different explanations included a house move, being scammed while buying furniture, a personal emergency and problems with the certification app. He also asked whether I could pay a deposit towards a potential rewire to help with an urgent personal expense, even though I had not bought the property or agreed to any remedial work. I was patient and allowed several opportunities for the matter to be resolved. However, after paying £500 and waiting over two weeks, I was left without the service I paid for, despite numerous assurances. In my experience, there was a repeated pattern of missed commitments, excuses and no meaningful ownership of the delays. I have now formally requested a full refund.

Needed some new power sockets and a replacement cooker switch. They responded quickly, communicated well, were very professional, and the cost was to the invoice and reasonable for what needed doing. Will use again and already recommending to others.
