Commercial EICR Cost
In the UK, a commercial EICR is priced on survey. Get an Instant Quote. Last updated October 2026.
A commercial EICR is priced on survey. The price follows the boards and circuits in scope, access, isolation planning, and whether testing has to happen outside business hours.
What affects the price
- The number of circuits and distribution boards to inspect and test
- Single-phase or three-phase supplies and the complexity of connected equipment
- Access to boards, circuits, and accurate existing schedules or drawings
- The isolation plan needed to protect staff, customers, stock, servers, refrigeration, or production
- Out-of-hours work and return visits agreed to reduce disruption
What’s included
- An agreed scope covering the installation, boards, and circuits to be inspected
- Visual inspection and dead and live tests appropriate to the installation
- A schedule of circuit test results and coded observations
- An overall satisfactory or unsatisfactory assessment in the written EICR
Good to know
How long does it take? Duration is driven by the circuit count, number of boards, access, and isolation plan. Ask the inspector to state the circuits included and how testing will be phased before accepting the quote.
Do I need one? HSE's guidance on regulation 4(2) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 says the obligation to maintain arises only if danger would otherwise result, and that maintenance should be sufficient to prevent danger so far as is reasonably practicable. How often inspection and testing are carried out is a matter for the judgement of the dutyholder.
Before you book, read how to check an electrician is qualified.
How to pay less
- Provide the previous EICR, circuit schedules, drawings, and access details before quotation
- Agree which circuits can be isolated during normal hours and which require a planned shutdown
- Make every distribution board and test point accessible before the inspector arrives
- Compare quotes using the same circuit count, scope, exclusions, and reporting requirements
- When remedial labour follows failed circuits, compare the quoted labour against Tradehand's Commercial Electrician Rates guide before you accept a quote

Inspection is separate from remedial work
Ask which inspection, tests and report the price covers, and how any further investigation or repairs will be quoted. Compare inspections on the same scope before comparing totals. At handover, retain the circuit schedules, coded observations, limitations and next inspection recommendation. Use the linked EICR repair and commercial maintenance briefs for report-led scope and site arrangements. Request a quote for your electrical inspection through Tradehand.
