Why Is One Light Flickering?

Just one light in your home is flickering while all the others work perfectly.

Dimmer Switch Buzzing

Your dimmer switch makes a buzzing or humming noise, especially when the lights are dimmed.

Light Switch Hot To Touch

A light switch in your home feels hot or very warm to the touch.

Light Switch Sparking

A light switch that sparks when you flick it usually has worn contacts or a loose wire behind the faceplate. Stop using it, switch the lighting circuit off at the consumer unit, and have an electrician replace the switch. If the plate is scorched, hot or smells of burning, treat it as urgent.

Light Won't Turn Off

A light that stays fully on whatever you do at the switch means the switch is no longer breaking the circuit: failed contacts, a stuck smart or dimmer module, or wiring that bypasses it. Turn it off at the lighting circuit breaker and book an electrician. Do not change the bulb with it live.

Wires Hanging From The Ceiling

You have wires hanging down from the ceiling: left behind after a light fitting was removed or never completed.
